Netflix released the first official trailer on Tuesday for part 1 of Zack Snyder’s long-awaited science-fantasy event Rebel Moon.
The epic war saga takes places in a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Mother World and stars Sofia Boutella as rebel leader Kora.
The cinematic event is split into two movies and the trailer includes footage from both films.
“What do you think they want?” Corey Stoll asks about the arriving invaders. “Everything,” an exasperated Sofia Boutella says.

Rebel Moon also stars Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, E. Duffy, Jena Malone, Sky Yang, and Charlotte Maggi.
The sci-fi event has gestated for years, and is inspired by Star Wars and the work of Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa.
Here’s the official description: “When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”
Snyder directed Rebel Moon, and co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten (John Wick 3) and Kurt Johnstad (300)
Producers include Deborah Snyder, Eric Newman, Zack Snyder, and Wesley Coller.
Rebel Moon: Part One — A Child of Fire arrives on Netflix Dec. 22. Four months later, Rebel Moon: Part Two — The Scargiver debuts on April 19.
