The two play lonely strangers who land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency. They’re given a dream brownstone in Manhattan, and new identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith.
“Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?” the official description says.
The series is described as a “reimagining” of the hit film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The movie from director Doug Liman was released in 2005, and earned $487 million at the worldwide box office.
The TV remake comes from co-creators and executive producers Donald Glover (Swarm and Atlanta) and Francesca Sloane (Atlanta and Fargo).
All eight episodes of Mr. & Mrs. Smith begin streaming on Feb. 2, 2024.
