Euphoria will be missing a cast member when filming on season 3 gets underway.
Storm Reid told Rotten Tomatoes on the 2024 Governors Awards red carpet Sunday, that she won’t be returning to the hit series.
“I’m very excited for season 3,” said Reid.
“Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning to the third season, but I am so so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO. Euphoria’s a really special thing and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon … I can’t wait to see what season 3 has in store,” she added.
Variety reached out to HBO and the network declined to comment on Reid’s departure.

Since June 2019, when Euphoria premiered, Reid has played the sister to main cast member Zendaya’s character Rue.
Season 2 concluded in February 2022. But production on the third season of the drama about a group of high school students trying to navigate life in a world of drugs, sex, trauma, and social media has faced delays for several reasons, including the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
It was confirmed on Nov. 12 by HBO boss Casey Bloys that production of season 3 was going to begin in January 2025.
“We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show,” said Bloys.
Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Colman Domingo also star along with Zendaya.
Euphoria was created by Sam Levinson and is based on the Israeli show of the same name.
