Bad Boys: Ride or Die star Will Smith wasn’t nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, but he still made it into the show.
Slow Horses creator and writer Will Smith, who is British, won the Emmy for outstanding writing for a drama series on Sunday, Sept. 15.
After the announcer called his name, Smith walked on stage and let everyone watching know he’s not that Will Smith and would not be slapping anyone.
“First of all, relax. Despite my name, I come in peace,” Smith quipped, referring to the drama that unfolded at the 2022 Oscars. Cameras cut to the celebrity audience inside the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles and just about everyone was laughing.

Just to clear up any confusion, British Will Smith, 53, is a veteran comedian, writer and producer. His most recent project is the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ spy thriller, Slow Horses.
Philadelphia native Will Smith, 55, starred in the blockbuster action film Bad Boys: Ride or Die earlier this year. He won a Best Actor Oscar in 2022 for his role in the tennis biopic King Richard, and produces the Peacock series Bel-Air.
And yes, even two years after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, it’s still making headlines.
Rock dished on the incident in March 2023 during his live-streaming Netflix special Selective Outrage.
“It still hurts!” he said jokingly about the slap.
“Y’all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody f–king knows. Yes, it happened. I got smacked like a year ago… I got smacked at the f–king Oscars by this motherfu–er. People are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears,” Rock said referring to Smith’s 1991 single “Summertime” with DJ Jazzy Jeff.
