Donnell Rawlings will bring comedy and laughs to Netflix with a stand-up special later this month.
The project titled Donnell Rawlings: A New Day arrives on the platform Feb. 27, Netflix announced in a recent press release Thursday.
Per the official description, Rawlings will get real about “toxic relationships, traveling to New Zealand, aging, and co-parenting.” He’ll grace the stage while decked out in a blue suit, red socks, and lotioned ankles.

The special is executive produced by Dave Chappelle, Rikki Hughes, and Stan Lathan via “Chappelle’s Home Team” — which shines a spotlight on comedians chosen by Chappelle. Earthquake was the first comic featured by the Home Team in 2022, followed Luenell in 2023.
“I’ve been doing this a long time and comedians like Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career. Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue. I am proud to be a part of this moment,” Chappelle said in a statement.
This marks Rawlings’ first solo special on Netflix.
The comedian was previously featured on The Degenerates (2019) and Snoop Dogg’s F*cn Around Comedy Special (2022). He was also a regular on Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show, appearing in sketches as “Ashy Larry” and other characters.
Among his acting roles, he played Damien “Day-Day” Price on HBO’s The Wire; the unfortunate Alvin on Starz crime drama BMF; and the snarky Mr. Earl in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. The Washington, D.C. native currently hosts The Donnell Rawlings Show podcast from his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
His new special was filmed at The Hard Rock Cafe in New York City during the New York Comedy Festival in November 2023.
