Don Lemon Rips Trump for ‘Peddling’ Conspiracy Theories About Obama

Don Lemon asked many questions inquiring minds want to know when it comes to President Donald Trump’s frequent tweets and retweets demeaning former President Barack Obama’s legacy.

“What is it about President Obama that really gets under your skin?” Lemon asked Sunday night during a CNN broadcast, as he looked squarely into the camera.

“Is it because he’s smarter than you? Better educated? Made it on his own? Didn’t need daddy’s help? Wife is more accomplished? Better looking? I don’t know, what is it?” the newscaster continued.

With over a million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States and at least 67,000 deaths, Lemon pondered why Trump is focusing on his predecessor instead of the national crisis.

The CNN Tonight host  made his comments just hours after Trump retweeted a conspiracy theory from a podcaster, who claimed “evidence has surfaced that indicates Barack Obama was the one running the Russian hoax.”

CNN White House correspondent Jeremy Diamond quickly shot down the “baseless claim.”

“There is no evidence pointing to President Obama running the counterintelligence investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Russia,” Diamond tweeted.

In the now viral, yet common moment of directness expressed by Lemon, he asked if Trump’s “obsession” with Obama has something to do with race.

“What is it about him? That he’s a Black man that’s accomplished? Became president? That he punked you on the whole birth certificate thing? What is it about him? Just wondering,” Lemon asked.

The CNN anchor later answered his own questions by accusing Trump of trying to deflect attention away from his own issues.

“This is nothing but a shameless attempt to distract from your own administration’s mishandling of a crisis that’s cost over 67,000 American lives,” Lemon said. “At a time when we need leadership, when we need compassion, this is the crap you’re peddling?”

While Trump supporters are questioning Lemon’s objectivity, others are waiting for POTUS to respond.
