Dave Chappelle reportedly kept his Saturday Night Live monologue under wraps until the very last minute, when he performed his controversial 15-minute set on live TV.

To make sure his jokes remained top secret, the comedian did a “fake” version of the monologue during a rehearsal earlier on Saturday, a source at the show told Page Six on Monday.

“Dave does a fake monologue during the dress rehearsal, because he doesn’t want [SNL creator] Lorne Michaels, or anyone else, to know what his real monologue is,” the source said.

The individual added that the version of the monologue that show staffers heard in rehearsal included a joke about an SNL writer, who said they were boycotting the episode because of the comedian’s past remarks about the transgender community.

The publication previously reported multiple writers refused to work with Chappelle and were sitting out the episode. Although a rep for the comedian denied claims of a boycott.

The real version of Chappelle’s set included jokes about Kanye West, now known as Ye, getting canceled following his remarks about Jewish people.

Chappelle began by reading a statement which said: “I denounce antisemitism in all its forms and I stand with my friends in the Jewish community. And that Kanye, is how you buy yourself some time.”

The comedian went on to say there’s an abundance of Jewish people in Hollywood, but there’s an unspoken rule in show business not to discuss it.

“If they’re Black, then it’s a gang. If they’re Italian, it’s a mob,” Chappelle said. “But if they’re Jewish, it’s a coincidence and you should never speak about it.”

His set drew praise from fans on social media, but sparked criticism among Jewish leaders for being antisemitic.

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt took to Twitter on Sunday to blast the comedian and the NBC late-night show.

“We shouldn’t expect @DaveChappelle to serve as society’s moral compass, but disturbing to see @nbcsnl not just normalize but popularize #antisemitism,” Greenblatt tweeted. “Why are Jewish sensitivities denied or diminished at almost every turn? Why does our trauma trigger applause?”
