Previous host Trevor Noah said goodbye to the show in December.

As producers search for a new host, they’ve been using well-known comics to fill in since Jan. 17.

Leslie Jones was the first guest host of the new year and brought new energy to the show.

She was followed by Wanda Sykes, Chelsea Handler, Al Franken,  D.L. Hughley, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman, and Marlon Wayans.

Now comes word that producers may stick with rotating hosts for a while, as the show’s ratings rise.

Deadline reported Friday, the show’s ratings for the first quarter of 2023 are up 13 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022 when Noah was host. Buzz and social media views have also climbed, with a 16 percent increase in online views over the same period last year.

Among some of the buzzy moments, Chelsea Handler made headlines — and drew some backlash — for her segment on the benefits of remaining childless.

Kal Penn, who worked in the Obama administration, generated more buzz when he brought on President Joe Biden as a guest.

And former Democratic Sen. Al Franken sparred with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham over Donald Trump’s pending indictment.

Now the correspondents are tasked with maintaining the momentum and the buzz.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available the following morning on Paramount+.
