Comedian Robin Thede Inks Production Deal With Warner Bros. TV

Robin Thede is making major industry moves. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Television Group announced the Emmy-nominated creator of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show has signed an exclusive overall deal.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Thede will develop new content for streaming outlets, premium and basic cable, and broadcast networks, Warner Bros. said in a press release.

This deal will continue Thede’s working relationship with Warner Media. She currently executive produces and stars in HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show for them.

Thede posted about the news on Twitter writing, “If you need me, I’ll be in my bag.” She also explained that WB will be the new home for her production company For Better or Words Inc.

Thede recently appeared in the fourth season of HBO’s Insecure, as well as in Dear White People creator Justin Simien’s thriller Bad Hair, which debuted at the Sundance film festival and is set for release on Hulu Oct. 23.

A Black Lady Sketch Show was renewed for season two and is nominated for an Emmy Award for outstanding variety sketch show. Thede previously hosted The Rundown With Robin Thede on BET, and is working on a feature film for HBO Max called Fashionably Black.
