The video shows Smith and Lawrence as Miami-Dade cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. The two jump into action after a mystery surfaces involving their boss Captain Howard (played by Joe Pantoliano).
Howard was killed in the last installment of the franchise. Now he’s being accused of corruption and it’s up to Mike and Marcus to get to the truth.
The two receive a text message with a video of Howard attached and he has dire news.
“If you’re seeing this I’m probably dead,” Howard tells them. “Don’t trust anybody. You’re my bad boys, now clear my name.”
“Captain Howard is being framed,” Mike says.
“I got this!” Marcus yells.
The two bad boys are set up to take the fall, and face gunmen, a horrifying plane ride, and explosions. Yet they refuse to give up.
Along with Smith, Lawrence and Pantoliano, the cast includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nuñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish, and John Salley.
Chris Bremner wrote the script and Jerry Bruckheimer, Will Smith, Chad Oman, and Doug Belgrad are producers.
The fourth film in the franchise is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also helmed Bad Boys for Life.
The first film was released in 1995, and Bad Boys II arrived in 2003. The saga continued with part 3 — Bad Boys for Life in 2020.
Combined, the first three films earned $840 million worldwide, according to The-Numbers.com. The franchise is expected to cross the billion dollar mark with the next installment.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die arrives in theaters on June 7, 2024.
