Ava DuVernay’s career continues to soar.
The Selma and A Wrinkle in Time director has landed a $100 million multi-year and multi-genre contract with Warner Bros. Television Group, Deadline confirmed Tuesday.
DuVernay’s deal — set to take effect in January — gives her free rein to produce and develop “drama and comedy series, documentaries, digital content, event projects and longer-form projects for broadcast and cable, premium cable, streaming services and other platforms,” the report stated.
The producer-screenwriter established a relationship with the entertainment company prior to landing the lucrative deal. DuVernay is the executive producer of OWN’s Queen Sugar and CBS’ The Red Line, both of which are distributed by Warner Bros.

“I’ve had nothing but beautiful experiences working with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner and Brett Paul. They love and support artists in wonderful and nourishing ways,” DuVernay told Deadline about the deal.
“I couldn’t be happier to call Warner Bros TV my production home,” the statement concluded.
Duvernay also took to Twitter, thanking her supporters for sending “love and light.”
“Warner Bros is a terrific partner on matters of visibility + belonging for all kinds + cultures of people, which is our mission at Forward Movement. Peter Roth, chief executive of Warner Bros. Television, added: “Ava DuVernay is one of the leading lights in our industry, a brilliantly talented writer, producer, director and entrepreneur whose ability to inspire with her art is exceeded only by her ability to entertain.”
He continued: “We have had the great pleasure of working with her on Queen Sugar and The Red Line, and we are extremely excited about the new stories she has to tell.”
In addition to DuVernay’s work with Warner Bros., she is directing a documentary about Prince for Netflix.
