Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a 2020 dispute.
Yet Lanez’s music career appears to be thriving. The Canadian rapper has released multiple albums since he was convicted, and this week he announced a multi-city “tour.”
A Sept. 15 post on Lanez’s Instagram account announced details about his cleverly titled “Not On Tor, Tour.”
Of course, Lanez won’t physically appear onstage, but his music will be front and center. The events are being billed as “listening experiences.”
The experiences kick off Sept. 25 in New York City, with stops planned in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, and Pittsburgh. Dates for planned shows in Montreal and Toronto will be announced later.
Few other details about the shows were provided — like whether there will be a DJ, hologram, or opening act.
A jury convicted Lanez in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and other counts. The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years in a California state prison in August 2023.
Lanez insisted he was not guilty of the July 2020 shooting in the Hollywood Hills after a night of partying.
He appealed the conviction, alleging “errors” were made during his trial. But a three-judge panel upheld his conviction and sentence in November 2025. The California Supreme Court declined to review his case in February 2026.
Since beginning his sentence, the “It Doesn’t Matter” rapper has released multiple albums. He dropped Peterson in 2025, followed by LOL: Slutty Bass in April 2026, and Made You Think I Was Gone …But in July 2026.

In July, BuzzMusic called Lanez “versatile” and praised him “as an artist who refuses to disappear creatively.”
Back in 2025, Urban Hollywood 411 contacted the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and asked how it was possible to record new music from prison. We weren’t snitching, just curious.
Corrections officials responded in a statement, saying: “Incarcerated persons have access to state-issued tablets, in which they can communicate via video calls. If the incarcerated person calls an outside party, with the incarcerated person’s permission, the other party can record the conversation.”
Lanez is currently housed at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, according to the CDCR’s online inmate locator. The hip-hop star is eligible for parole in March 2030.
