A Chicago P.D. fan favorite is leaving the police drama following the season 12 finale.

Toya Turner, who plays Officer Kiana Cook, posted a statement on Instagram Thursday, June 26, saying she is leaving the Intelligence Unit after just one season.

“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next,” Turner shared.

The actress ended the statement by writing, “And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead.”

Turner did not give an explanation as to why she is leaving the NBC series, and it’s unclear if it was her decision to move on.

On May 8, she shared a post on Instagram celebrating the show’s renewal for a 13th season. She included a picture of herself in a squad car and mentioned in the caption that she would see viewers next season.

“Pulling up to tell you #ChicagoPD has been RENEWED for another season baby! More Officer Cook comin y’alls way real soon,” Turner wrote at the time.

The actress is the latest cast member to exit in recent years. Tracy Spiridakos, who played Hailey Upton, left the series after season 11.

Before that, Jesse Lee Soffer, who played Upton’s partner Jay Halstead, left the show.

Jason Beghe leads the cast of the drama, alongside Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar.

In May, NBC renewed its “One Chicago” franchise and announced Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. would all return for the 2025-2026 broadcast season.

All three shows air on Wednesday nights and are produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
