2024 WNBA Draft Scores Record TV Audience – Thanks to Star Players

The 2024 WNBA draft delivered the largest audience ever for a women’s basketball draft event.

The Monday, April 15, broadcast on ESPN was watched by an average 2.45 million viewers, according to Nielsen figures released by ESPN. The audience peaked at 3.09 million viewers.

The 2023 broadcast averaged 572,000 viewers on the cable network. It was then the most-watched women’s basketball draft since 2004, when 601,000 viewers watched UConn’s Diana Taurasi become the No. 1 pick.

The number of female viewers watching Monday’s telecast also surged, with 1.06 million women watching — up 374 percent year over year.

This year’s draft was held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, and featured star college basketball players Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, and Kamilla Cardoso.

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark was the No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever.

The Los Angeles Sparks selected Stanford’s Cameron Brink at No. 2. and Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson was the team’s No. 4 pick.

The Chicago Sky had the No. 3 pick and selected South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso.

Chicago also picked up Louisiana State’s Angel Reese at No. 7.
