Will Smith will get jiggy with it at the 2024 BET Awards.
The rapper and Oscar-winning actor is set to take the stage at the awards this weekend and debut a new original song.
“From his start as a rapper to The Fresh Prince to being a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon, and we are honored to welcome him back to grace the BET Awards stage,” Connie Orlando, BET’s executive vice president of specials specials, music programming and music strategy said in a statement on Monday, June 24.
Smith previously climbed the music charts as one-half of a hip-hop duo with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and released a string of hits including “Parents Just Don’t Understand”, “A Nightmare on My Street,” “Summertime,” “Ring My Bell.” Smith took home a Grammy Award for his 1998 solo single “Gettin’ Jiggy wit It.”

He joins a line-up of BET Awards performers that includes GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla, and Victoria Monét. Additionally, Tanner Adell will perform on the BET Amplified stage.
Taraji P. Henson returns to host the ceremony for a third time, and Usher will be honored with BET’s Lifetime Achievement
Award.
Drake leads this year’s nominations with seven nods, including album of the year for For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Nicki Minaj follows with six nominations. J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét each received five nominations. Fans can vote on the Viewer’s Choice Award through 6:30 p.m. PT on June 30.
The awards will take place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, with the show airing live on Sunday, June 30, on BET at 8 PM ET/ PT.
