Wale Says He’s ‘Extremely Sick’ and Taking Break From Social Media

Wale is stepping away from social media as he deals with serious health problems.

The Washington, D.C. rapper shared the news with his followers Wednesday in an Instagram Story, saying he’s “extremely sick” and doesn’t even have the energy to check his phone calls or text messages.

“I am out of commission. I been extremely sick since Saturday,” Wale wrote in a statement. “I’ve missed many calls and texts. Thank you to everybody who called wit genuine concern. I ain’t sure how long I’ll be down but this shit ain’t slight.”

The hip-hop star didn’t disclose details on his illness, but said he hopes to be back soon.

“Soon as I can come back strong, I’ll be back strong,” he wrote. “As for now, management will run my socials. Much love, see y’all soon.”

Wale, real name Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, was preparing to release his next project “Folarin 2 when he announced his illness. In a June 22 social media post, he said the disc would be coming out this summer. It’s now unclear when the album will be released.

The rapper, 36, released his sixth studio album “Wow… That’s Crazy” in 2019. The lead single “On Chill” (featuring Jeremih) spent 23 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
