Actor, singer and now writer Tyrese Gibson will star in and produce the upcoming film The Inside Game.
Gibson and his production company Voltron Pictures are teaming up with Wonderfilm Media to bring the action thriller to the big screen, the two companies announced Tuesday, July 9.
“I am beyond grateful that Wonderfilm has decided to take this journey with me as my producing partner,” Gibson said in a statement to the media. “Being able to follow Fast & Furious 9 and Morbius with this project is going to make for a great 2020!”

According to a synopsis for The Inside Game, the film centers on Jamal Smith (Gibson), a Miami police officer suspended for using excessive force and his penchant for not doing things by the book. When he returns home to Atlanta, he finds himself thrown into a dark underworld of blackmail and extortion that has ensnared his pro football player brother.
Gibson co-wrote the script, and the producers are currently looking for a director. They plan to start production on the thriller in November.
The multi-hyphenate is known for his roles in the Fast & Furious films, the Transformers franchise and John Singleton’s Baby Boy.
He’ll next be seen in Fast & Furious 9, Morbius and Black and Blue, a police brutality thriller co-starring Naomie Harris.
Gibson is also known for his music career and such R&B singles as “Sweet Lady” and “How You Gonna Act Like That.”
