Tyra Banks Talks Body Shaming in Fashion Industry on TV One’s ‘Uncensored’

Long before she became a TV host, producer and entrepreneur, Tyra Banks was an up-and-coming model trying to land bookings.

But, she says she faced frequent criticism in the fashion industry for not being thin enough.

“Your butt’s too big, your boobs are too big, your thighs are too thick,” Banks recalled during an interview with TV One’s docuseries Uncensored. In a trailer for the show’s upcoming second season, Banks fired back at her critics, saying they can kiss her “fat ass.”

The supermodel made history in 1997 as the first black woman to appear alone on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issueAfter retiring from modeling, she graced the magazine’s cover again this past spring.

Now, the 45-year-old fashion mogul has just signed a deal as global brand ambassador of Nine West.

In addition to Banks, the second season of Uncensored will feature interviews with actresses Tisha Campbell and LisaRaye McCoy, and former NBA star Lamar Odom.

The auto-biographical series delves into the lives of celebrities as they reveal secrets to their success, obstacles they faced and how they’ve navigated the perils of social media that helped, but sometimes haunted their careers.

Season 2 of Uncensored premieres Sunday, October 6 at 9/8C on TV One.
