Tyler Perry has unveiled details on his new White House-set drama titled The Oval.

The series is the media mogul’s first project under a new mega-deal with BET and parent company Viacom, that took effect in May after a similar contract with OWN ended.

The Oval will star Ed Quinn (2 Broke Girls) as newly-elected president Hunter Franklin and Kron Moore (Into the Storm) as first lady. Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson have been cast as their children.

Perry will write, direct and executive produce the drama, which received a straight-to-series order.

“I’ve been hard at work on The Oval and can’t wait to share this story with audiences,” Perry said Thursday in a statement on his website. “I’ve set out to create a show that tells the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.”

The Oval will explore lies, cheating and corruption in the White House, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which was the first outlet to report details on the drama.

Michelle Sneed, president of production and development for Tyler Perry Studios, will serve as an executive producer along with Perry.

Principal photography begins this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

Under his new pact, Perry will produce a second drama, two comedies and a live holiday-themed production. In all, he plans to produce 90 episodes annually of original content for BET and other Viacom platforms.
