TV One’s ‘Raising Fame’ to Feature Families Who Raised Superstars

The TV One docuseries Raising Fame features some of today’s biggest stars, by getting insight from the people who raised them.

Co-hosted by Sonya Curry and Lucille O’Neal, the moms of basketball greats Steph Curry and Shaquille O’Neal, Raising Fame “will give viewers a deeper understanding of the dedication, sacrifice, and love that contributed to the success of these remarkable individuals in their rise to fame,” according to the official description.

The show premieres tonight, with an episode focusing on Oscar-nominated actress Danielle Brooks. Cameras follow Brooks and her parents from her hometown of Simpsonville, South Carolina to Los Angeles as she prepares for the 2024 Academy Awards.

Brooks received an Oscar nod for her performance as Sofia in The Color Purple remake. She is also known for her roles in Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia, Orange Is the New Black, and Peacemaker.

This season, the docuseries will also feature the families of superstar music artists Usher, John Legend, Fantasia, Jon Batiste, and Chance the Rapper; as well as athletes and entrepreneurs Magic Johnson and Kevin Durant; actor Billy Porter; and late actor Chadwick Boseman.

The series is created by TCS Media. Executive producers include Tracy Chutorian Semler and Eric Semler. Allison Simmons is the Executive Producer in Charge of Production for TV One.

Raising Fame premieres Sunday, July 7 at 10P/9C on TV One.
