Discovery+ and OWN have unveiled the trailer for the new docuseries Profiled: The Black Man from executive producer Tina Knowles-Lawson.
The four-part series premieres in February and will examine the origins of stereotypes about Black men in America — dating back centuries.
Here is the official description for the project: “Through a powerful mixture of historical footage, real-life testimony, and commentary from an array of renowned thought leaders, Profiled: The Black Man aims to show the difficulties Black men have faced, both in the past and present-day, while also highlighting and celebrating the triumphs and resilience of countless extraordinary men.”

Each episode will feature commentary from Black celebrities and activists, including Tina Knowles-Lawson, civil rights activist DeRay Mckesson, community activist Tamika Mallory, hip-hop culture influencer Sway Calloway, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Billy Porter and more.
Actor Tristan “Mack” Wilds will serve as host of the series.
Profiled: The Black Man is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions with P. Frank Williams as showrunner. Tina Knowles-Lawson and Trell Thomas are executive producers, and Kristen V. Carter serves as co-executive producer. OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network oversees production of the series.
The series premieres Saturday, Feb. 12, on Discovery+, with new one-hour episodes available every Saturday through March 5.
The episodes are described as:
- Episode 1 – “Black Men Are Dangerous” – Premieres Saturday, February 12
- Episode 2 – “Black Men Are Absent Fathers”- Premieres Saturday, February 19
- Episode 3 – “Black Men Devalue Black Women” – Premieres Saturday, February 26
- Episode 4 – “Black Men Don’t Cry” – Premieres Saturday, March 5
