The Talk is going through another on-air change as Elaine Welteroth exits the show after one season.

The former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief said Tuesday she plans to step away from her role as a co-host on the daytime talk show to focus on “upcoming creative projects.”

“It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented,” Welteroth said in a statement obtained by The Wrap.

“I came to The Talk to break out of my own echo chamber and to join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy. I’m proud of how I represented myself and my community,” she continued. “But as I always say: when the music changes, so must your dance! I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and I wish them the very best. Thanks to all those who tuned in every day. I’m excited to continue these necessary conversations in my work and to share my upcoming creative projects soon.”

Welteroth’s departure in the latest in a flurry of changes at the The Talk over the last year. On Aug. 20, Carrie Ann Inaba officially announced her exit from the show, which makes Sheryl Underwood and Amanda Kloots the only co-hosts from last season to return for season 12, which begins on Sept. 13.

The shift in co-hosts has added to the CBS show’s struggles after Sharon Osbourne was forced out in March, following a heated and racially-charged debate with Underwood. As previously reported in July, actor Jerry O’Connell is joining the show as its first male co-host.

Meanwhile, Marie Osmond exited the program in September 2020, after one season. Then rapper and actress Eve, who had been co-hosting from London due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, announced in November 2020 that she would be leaving The Talk after four seasons to focus on her family. Her last appearance was in December.

Starting in October, Eve will co-star in ABC hip-hop drama Queens, alongside Naturi Naughton, Nadine Velazquez and Brandy.
