Long-running daytime talk show The Doctors is revamping its format, and will return for Season 13 with Dr. Ian Smith as the new host.
Smith, who is a bestselling author and medical expert, was previously a medical contributor to the Rachael Ray Show, as well as a medical correspondent for NBC’s Today and Nightly News. Smith also served two terms under former president Barack Obama as part of the President’s Council for Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.
“This is an unprecedented time, and people are looking for the latest in updates delivered in an easy to understand format, and The Doctors is the perfect place to help us all take control of our lives,” Smith said in a press release. “Helping people learn how to be the best versions of themselves is a personal passion of mine, and I am excited to bring viewers unbiased information and facts, free of any political slant, to help them take their power back.”

The upcoming season will be filmed at a new East Coast studio, with the theme “Take Your Power Back.” The new theme was created to help viewers face uncertainty and to quite literally take their power back when dealing with difficult circumstances.
The Doctors’ executive producer Jay McGraw also provided a statement that congratulated Smith.
“Trustworthy and straightforward medical news has never been more important,” McGraw said. “The Doctors recognizes the opportunity to support our viewers and deliver the content they’re looking for and deserve to get. Dr. Ian and our award-winning team coming together for season 13 are focused on being an empowering resource of news, solutions and inspiration to stay healthy and become stronger than ever.”
The Emmy-winning show was previously hosted by ER physician Dr. Travis Stork and plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon, along with Dr. Nita Landry and Dr. Sonia Batra. After a shakeup, producers are moving in a new direction.
The Doctors is produced by Stage 29 Productions and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Executive producers include Jay McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patricia Ciano, and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw.
The show will kick off Season 13 on Monday, Sept. 21.

I won’t be watching the doctor’s with dr.Smith. it sucks!!!!! Hate it! Dr Phil is turning into Maury Povich. You have lost a devoted viewer.
I won’t be watching the show any more. I understand you had to change host, but did you have to change the rest of the host too? I mean if you would have kept Dr.Ordon I would have continue to watch
I’m done with the show. Dr.Travis Stork ,Dr.Andrew Ordon and the ladies made the show. This is very ,very disappointing. If they are not returning , I won’t be either. Boring!!!!
I am so upset with “The Doctors” new host & format! I’ve been watching the show from day 1. You just lost a daily devoted viewer & supporter. I couldn’t be more disappointed.
since the new season started with the new person I don’t like it. Have stopped watching the show. It’s not the same anymore
I am very disappointed in The New Drs. I loved Dr. Travis Stork, Dr. Andrew Ordon and the other two female physicians were co-hosted the show who brought wonderful information to us and delivered it in a comfortable manner, no matter what the subject. I won’t be watching the show anymore. I’m sure Dr. Ian Smith is a great person and doctor but I am not enjoying the show.
I agree, this new Dr I’m sure is very nice but I want my show back. It was entertaining ,not just medical. I can get that all day long if I want it, But I am looking for something to take my mind away from all the turmoil that the US is going through…sometimes you jusy need a break, and the original Dr program gave me that. You have screwed up big time. I’ll be moving on
Like all the others , I do not like this new Dr. show . Where are all the Dr’s that made the show they I liked . I think you have messed up . You are going to loose a lot or most viewers . I won’t be watching anymore .
This is really a bad news and one of the worst moves I’ve seen a network make. The old saying. If it’s not broke. Don’t try and fix it……. This will be off the air quickly..
I think you made the biggest blunder ever, by changing the whole format. Dr Travis and Dr. Ordan and the two lady doctors were an awesome team. They explained everything in a way that made it an enjoyable experience. Sometimes they would throw in a joke just to lighten the mood at times. It was a great show. Now I will no longer be watching the show. It will be off the air in no time. BIG MISTAKE.
Really dislike the new show. Why did you fix something that wasn’t broken? Dumb.
I agree with all the comments! Dr. Smith is nice enough but the formal team was very intertwining and covered medical issues important to all. Their joking amongst each other was very intertwining. It’s very boring with only one host….won’t be watching anymore unless it goes back as before. Big mistake!
Why did you have to really change the Doctors? It was just fine the way it was. The problem is that everyone in the public eye want to make things politically correct. These doctors are very good. Why change something if it is fine.
They had no choice but to change the show because Dr. Travis no longer wanted to do the show. They can’t make him do the show if he no longer want’s to do it! He wanted to have more time with his growing family which is understandable. Dr. Ian Smith used to be a correspondent contributing doctor to the show and now he is the host. Some of the previous doctor’s on the show like Dr. Andrew Ordan are now correspondent contributing doctors. Most likely this is by choice because at this point doctor’s like Dr. Andrew Ordan (A plastic surgeon) probably make more money treating patience than hosting a TV show.
Agree 100%, the show turned into a no-show, at least for me. I ask anybody who used to watch it with full staffing, to stop watching it. Maybe that will turn them around..
Will no longer watch. Bring back the Doctors!
Please don’t try to think for your viewing audience. You’ve turned “The Doctors into something nobody including me wants to watch.
Don’t care for the turn Dr Phil is taking either.
I used to look forward to watching The Drs TV Show. It was informative with nice relationships between the various doctors which incorporated light-hearted bantering and humor between them. But this new format with the one doctor is so incredibly boring! Watching the show now feels like I am listening to a doctor without a lot of personality, that I don’t know well, give me a long drawn out boring lecture and I just can’t wait for the appointment to be over! I really tried to give the one doctor format a chance but I find that I have grown irritated by the sound of the doctor’s voice as he just drones on and on to the point that I’ve even stopped paying attention to the information anymore. And today while watching the show, and frequently changing to other channels to see if I could find something better, I realized that it is just time to let The Drs TV show go. I can get medical information in so many other ways that aren’t so painfully boring! RIP The Drs TV show.
The Doctors new show is a flop will NOT be watching the new vamp of what was once known as the DOCTORS change the name of the show because its shame to tarnish what was known at one time as the true DOCTORS SHOW !!! The panel that was on the DOCTORS was AWSOME.!!!
Who knows if Jay McGraw or Dr. Phil McGraw even read these comments, but if they do, I hope they take into consideration the mass majorities opinions and change the format back to the original panel of Doctors, including Dr. Stork and Dr. Ordon. They made that show! Fun, informative, entertaining, heartwarming and something we all looked forward to watching. If you producers care about your viewers, you’d give them back what they ask for. This show you are currently airing with Dr. Ian as the sole host will undoubtedly be cancelled very soon. You’ve lost all your loyal followers from your original show! Really disappointing. Hope you all change your mind. Even the the doctors who left decide to come back! It was a great show.
I love watching Dr. I. Smith, enjoy every show very informative.
