D.L. Hughley, Vivica A. Fox to Star in Bounce TV Comedies

D.L. Hughley is set to star in a new comedy on Bounce TV, produced by Cedric the Entertainer.

The original series titled Johnson tells the story of a group of lifelong best friends navigating the world while Black. The scripted comedy is produced by Cedric’s A Bird & A Bird Entertainment, and is set to premiere in the second quarter of 2021.

The announcement came Tuesday as Bounce unveiled its 2020-21 programing slate. The network has also picked up a new original scripted series starring Vivica A. Fox, called Secrets of the Salon.

The comedy is set in an Atlanta hair salon and revolves around love, relationships, and daily gossip. The series is produced by Swirl Films and will premiere in the third quarter of 2021.

In addition to the two new scripted series, Bounce has renewed its drama series Saints & Sinners for a fifth season.

The network also announced premiere dates for returning shows In the Cut and Family Time, and unveiled a true-crime docuseries called Dying to Be Famous: The Ryan Singleton Mystery. It will also air a documentary called Killing Michael Jackson which was described as “ground-breaking” in a press release.

Lastly, Bounce’s 2020-21 programming slate includes three original films, including A Chance in the World, Will You Merry Me?, and Faith Heist.

Bounce TV is a broadcast and multi-platform entertainment network serving African Americans. The network features a programming mix of original series, docuseries and movies, off-network series, theatrical motion pictures, specials, live sports and events.
