LaKeith Stanfield is taking audiences on a haunting journey in the trailer for Apple TV+ series, The Changeling.
Stanfield (Atlanta, Get Out) executive produces and stars in the eight-part drama as Apollo, an antique book dealer in New York City.
Apollo’s life appears to be the stuff of fairytales when he falls for Emma (played by Clark Backo), and they become parents. The story takes a chilling twist when Emma suddenly vanishes, leaving Apollo to embark on a dangerous journey to find her.

The trailer starts at the beginning of the couple’s love story with Apollo pursuing Emma, who initially rejects his advances because she’s planning a move to Brazil.
The mood quickly shifts from playful to ominous as the trailer shows a flashback of Emma encountering a mysterious woman in the woods by a lagoon.
“She told me I had three wishes,” Emma tells her husband, as a clip shows the strange woman tying a single red string around her wrist. “When it falls off my wrist, those three wishes will come true. Do not cut it.”
Apollo removes the string anyway, promising Emma he will fulfill all of her wishes. The decision causes their “fairytale” to turn into a horror story.
Based on Victor LaValle’s best-selling 2017 novel, The Changeling cast also includes Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, and Jared Abrahamson, with a special guest appearance by Malcolm Barrett.
Kelly Marcel is showrunner and executive producer. The pilot was directed by Melina Matsoukas.
The first three episodes of The Changeling premiere Friday, Sept. 8 on Apple TV+.
