“We’ve got one job to do, just get through it,” Idris Elba tells a distraught passenger in the trailer for Hijack, a new action thriller premiering this summer on Apple TV+.
The Luther star executive produces and leads the cast of the seven-part series as Sam Nelson, a seasoned business negotiator who must step up and use all of his wits to save the 200 people on a hijacked jet.
The drama is told in real time, following the voyage of the plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, while police on the ground search for clues.
Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife, Snowpiercer) co-stars as “Zahra Gahfoor,” a counter-terrorism officer who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes involved in the investigation.

The cast also includes Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, and Ben Miles.
The series is created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, who also wrote and directed the thriller.
The drama is produced by 60 Forty Films, under its exclusive content deal with Apple TV+, alongside production company Idiot Lamp Productions. The project is also the first series to debut as part of Elba’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures.
In addition to writing and directing, Kay and Field Smith serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier.
Hijack debuts on Apple TV+ Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through Aug. 2.
