Basketball drama Swagger won’t be hitting the court for a third season on Apple TV+.
Creator Reggie Rock Bythewood announced Thursday on social media the series has been canceled.
Inspired by NBA star Kevin Durant’s life, the critically acclaimed drama followed a close-knit group of youth basketball players starting their senior year at an elite prep school. Almost overnight, the players led the team to a winning streak.
Swagger starred O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Quvenzhané Wallis, Shinelle Azoroh, Tessa Ferrer, Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Orlando Jones, and Tristan Mack Wilds.

Bythewood called working on the series an “amazing adventure” in a statement he posted to Instagram.
“In our two seasons, we have launched careers, disrupted genre, brought forth humanity through our characters, told stories we care deeply about, revolutionized the way to shoot basketball and had fun,” he wrote.
“Apple, while you are not ordering a season three, I made the show I wanted to make. Thank you for that,” Bythewood continued.
He thanked the show’s cast, writers, crew, and fans.
“Walk on the set with Swagger. Walk off the set with Swagger,” he wrote. “For our FAMbase, you lifted us in ways we could have never imagined. To the industry, don’t take your foot off the gas. Keep telling our stories.”
Bythewood wrote, directed and served as showrunner and executive producer, alongside co-executive producers Brian Grazer, Kevin Durant, Rich Kleiman, Francie Calfo, and Joy Kecken.
The series was produced for Apple TV+ by Imagine Television Studios, Boardroom, CBS Studios and Undisputed Cinema.
The drama debuted in October 2021 to critical acclaim.
It has a 93 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling the series as “a delight to behold” and “a “springboard for talent.”
