Saturday Night Live has a long-running sketch about Dionne Warwick hosting a celebrity interview show, and this weekend the legendary singer made a surprise appearance herself.

SNL regular Ego Nwodim opened “The Dionne Warwick Talk Show” segment by interviewing singer-songwriter Jason Mraz (host Kieran Culkin); rapper Post Malone (Pete Davidson); pop star Miley Cyrus (Chloe Fineman); musician Ed Sheeran (this weekend’s musical guest); and a doctor who stopped by to give a coronavirus booster shot “live on air.”

But Nwodim’s Warwick wasn’t satisfied with the caliber of her guests and quickly dismissed each one. “I’m sick and tired of interviewing people who aren’t icons,” she said.

That was the cue for the real Warwick to enter the stage. “I’m so excited for you that I’m here,” the iconic singer said to wild applause.

“Let me ask you something,” Nwodim said. “Dionne, why are you perfect?”

“Darling, I’m not perfect, I’m just very, very good,” the 80-year-old singer responded.

Nwodim then made reference to Warwick’s popular Twitter feed, before asking the five-time Grammy winner if she wanted to “sing a song for the people.”

“Do they deserve it?” Warwick asked. “I think we should go ahead and do it,” Nwodim responded.

Dressed in matching sparkly outfits, the two belted out Warwick’s 1966 single “What the World Needs Now.”

“Damn we look good!” Nwodim said at the end of the sketch. Watch the video from the NBC sketch comedy series below:
