Singer-songwriter Jeremih has been taken off a ventilator, but remains hospitalized in an intensive care unit due to complications from COVID-19.

“J was just pulled off the ventilator,” his agent said in a statement Thursday to Variety. “He’s still in ICU in critical condition.”

The 33-year-old artist, whose full name is Jeremy Phillip Felton, is currently undergoing treatment in Chicago. It is unclear when the singer contracted the virus.

On Nov. 14, rapper 50 Cent was one of the first people to make it public that Jeremih was battling COVID-19.

50 Cent posted a photo of the two of them on Twitter and added the caption: “Pray for my boy Jeremih he’s not doing good this covid s–t is real.

That same day, Chance the Rapper asked for prayers for his friend on Twitter: “Please if you can take a second to pray for my friend Jeremih, he is like a brother to me and he’s ill right now.”

Since then, other music stars have taken to social media to share their well-wishes.

Juicy J asked for prayers for both Jeremih and rapper Boosie (who was shot in the leg on Nov. 14.)

Jeremih is best known for his singles “Down on Me,” and “Don’t Tell ‘em.” He signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2009.
