A suspected intruder was shot and wounded outside the North Carolina home of rapper DaBaby and now the 911 call has been released.

The Troutman Police Department responded to the shooting around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Local TV station WSOC reported the shooting happened on a football field outside a mansion belonging to DaBaby.

The North Carolina rapper, real name Jonathan Kirk, and a second person were at the home when the shooting occurred, Troutman police said. The injuries to the unidentified individual who was shot are not life-threatening, authorities said.

On Thursday, the redacted 911 call from the incident was released by Iredell County Emergency Communications, and NBC affiliate WCNC posted the call online.

The caller’s voice has been digitally altered to protect their identity. “I shot him in his leg,” the caller says as the man who was shot cries out in pain.

The caller, who has not yet been identified, goes on to say: “He was trespassing on my property and calling me by my name.”

The caller adds that the man is “bleeding but breathing.” He then tells the dispatcher he will wait for police to arrive.

“I don’t know what he’s here for. What he’s here to take. What he’s here to do. He’s neutralized until you guys get here,” the caller says.

The person shot was transported to a nearby hospital, meantime police said they removed a gun from the home. It’s unclear if any charges will be filed.

This is not the first time that DaBaby has been in the news on matters relating to firearms. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon after a fatal shooting in Huntersville, North Carolina. In 2021, the rapper was arrested after taking a loaded gun into a store on Rodeo Drive.
