An attorney for the woman accusing Shannon Sharpe of sexual assault in a $50 million civil lawsuit says the former NFL player has repeatedly “declined” to watch a video described as “key evidence” in the case.
Tony Buzbee, who represents the anonymous Jane Doe accuser, says the alleged sex tape proves lack of consent and backs up the woman’s allegations, which Sharpe denies.
On Tuesday, April 29, Buzbee told TMZ Sports the former NFL player’s legal team reviewed the footage during private mediation, but he said Sharpe repeatedly refused to watch it himself.
“The only reason you know about the existence of a video recording is that Mr. Sharpe specifically referenced it in his bulls–t statement,” Buzbee told the outlet.
“The contents of the video was shared during the mediation process with Sharpe’s attorneys. Again, Sharpe and his team disclosed that, not us. Sharpe himself was offered on more than one occasion to view it himself. He declined. We’ve never made any claims or threats about it and won’t do so,” Buzbee added.
“And no,” he continued, “we won’t be ‘releasing’ the video as it is key evidence in the case and will be treated as such.”

Sharpe revealed the tape exists when he released a video statement on April 22, denying Jane Doe’s allegations.
“This is a shakedown.” he said. “This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee.”
“I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could ever possibly imagine. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so,” Sharpe said.
That same day, the media personality’s attorney Lanny Davis admitted during a virtual news conference that Sharpe was recently in mediation with Doe and offered to pay her “at least $10 million,” before Buzbee filed the $50 million lawsuit, “without warning.”
“It was a big surprise to us a few days ago when this case was filed,” Davis told reporters.
The lawsuit said the woman met Sharpe in 2023 when she was 19 years old and he was in his 50s.
According to the complaint, the two had a “rocky consensual relationship,” but the woman alleged Sharpe became abusive when she confronted him about “cheating.”
“In October 2024, Shannon Sharpe violently sexually assaulted” Doe two different times in Las Vegas, the lawsuit said.
The complaint alleged Sharpe “forcibly anally raped” Doe at her apartment on Oct. 6, 2024, after she broke things off with him.
“He told her, in the moment as she was crying, that the experience was so good it was giving him chills,” the lawsuit said.
The complaint alleged Sharpe assaulted Doe again on Jan. 2, 2025, as she “screamed and sobbed.”
