Charlamagne Tha God has weighed in on the sex scandal surrounding Shannon Sharpe, saying the former NFL player is “fighting for his professional life” because he lacks discipline.

Charlamagne made the comment on the April 26 episode of his “Brilliant Idiots” podcast with comedian Andrew Schulz.

For anyone not following the story, attorney Tony Buzbee filed a $50 million civil lawsuit against Sharpe alleging rape on behalf of an anonymous Jane Doe accuser on April 20. The complaint said Doe was 19 years old when she met Sharpe in 2023, and he was in his 50s. Sharpe denied the allegations and called the complaint a “shakedown.”

Charlamagne described the lawsuit as a “teachable moment,” and questioned why a 54-year-old man would be dating a teenager.

“I actually feel sad, because once again, we’re watching a lack of discipline and a lack of stability have somebody out here fighting for their professional life,” he said.

“You can’t shake down nobody if they don’t give you nothing to shake,” the author and “Breakfast Club” star continued. “You can’t target nobody if they don’t give you nothing to target.”

Sharpe’s attorney Lanny Davis has now done several interviews, including on Don Lemon’s podcast, where he noted that Jane Doe is an OnlyFans model who offers her subscribers fantasy experiences.

Schulz brought up Doe’s work on OnlyFans and asked why Sharpe would risk everything by dating someone on the subscription-based platform, which is known for its racy content.

“Why are you even hooking up with OnlyFans girls, outside of the fact that they’re so f–king hot that it’s unbelievable?” Schulz said.

Charlamagne said he was more concerned about the age difference. “There is absolutely no reason for a 54-year-old man, at the time, to be hollering at a 19 year old,” he said. “That’s a lack of dick discipline.”

Last week during a virtual news conference, Lanny Davis revealed Sharpe was recently in mediation with Doe and offered to pay her “at least $10 million,” when Buzbee filed the $50 million lawsuit “without warning.”

Sharpe, who is also a contributor on ESPN, released a statement on April 24, saying he elected to “step aside temporarily” from the network to focus on the “false” allegations against him.

He has threatened to file a defamation lawsuit against Doe in response to the allegations against him.

Listen to the podcast interview below. They discuss Shannon Sharpe at the 10:00 mark.
