After Dubai told him to keep stepping, R. Kelly has apparently found a new gig closer to home.
The embattled R&B singer took to Instagram Saturday to let fans know he’d be performing at a nightclub in Springfield, Illinois.
“Yo. This yo boy Kells and I got an event to do tonight in Springfield, Illinois,” he said in a since-deleted IG video.

Kelly, who previously admitted having financial problems, said he needs to make a living and urged the media to please be kind.
“I want the media to take it easy on me. Man, this is how I gotta get paid right now,” he continued. “So I gotta go do this event and it’s a party. So when you see me in the club, with a couple of drinks in my hand, and chillin’, please take it easy. Appreciate it y’all. Thanks.”
The Grammy winner was arrested on Feb. 22, and charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting four females, including three underage girls.
He struggled to come up with bail money following his arrest. Then last month he spent three days in jail until someone anonymously paid the $161,000 in back child support he owed his ex-wife.
On March 20, Kelly’s attorney Steven A. Greenberg petitioned a Chicago court requesting permission for the Fiesta singer to travel to the United Arab Emirates to perform a series of concerts.
“Before he was arrested Mr. Kelly had signed a contract to perform between 3-5 shows in Dubai, UAE, in April 2019,” the court filing stated.
That plan apparently fell through when the Dubai government issued a statement essentially saying Kelly was not welcome there.
