OWN released the trailer on Monday for the seventh and final season of Queen Sugar. Set to Al Green’s “Love and Happiness,” the trailer is filled with emotion.

“After everything we’ve been through, I see everything I need right here in front of me,” Ralph Angel Bordelon (Kofi Siriboe) says after welcoming a new baby daughter.

But as Ralph looks toward the future with certainty, Micah West (Nicholas L. Ashe) deals with confusion.

“I just don’t know where I fit in,” Micah says.

Queen Sugar premiered in 2016 and stars Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe as the Bordelon family siblings living in the fictional community of St. Josephine. The series is based on the book by Natalie Baszile and follows the Borderlons and their extended family.

OWN and series creator Ava DuVernay announced in November that the show would end after seven seasons. The final season was filmed in New Orleans.

“To write and produce seven seasons of a modern drama centered on a Black family is a radical act in our industry and a triumph that has far exceeded every hope I held,” DuVernay said last year.

The drama is produced for OWN by DuVernay’s Array Filmworks and Harpo Films in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers are DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Paul Garnes and Shaz Bennett.

Over the years, the show picked up the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Drama Series and has been named Television Show of the Year by the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), and Best TV Drama for four consecutive years by the African-American Film Critics Association.

The seventh and final season of Queen Sugar premieres Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 8 pm ET/PT only on OWN.
