The official trailer for Prime Video’s upcoming crime thriller series Cross has been released.

Based on James Patterson’s best-selling novels, the series stars Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross — a detective and forensic psychologist who digs into the minds of killers and their victims to identify and ultimately capture the criminals.

The trailer opens with a masked suspect, who narrates, “I’m not a monster, I don’t kill for fun. You’re going to be part of a masterpiece, and when I’m done, the world will know the truth.”

One scene shows the detective face-to-face with a suspect, who says, “You’re not in my head.” Cross replies: “Oh, I’m definitely living rent-free.”

Along with his job as the lead investigator for the Metropolitan Police Department, Cross is shown as a widowed father, working to protect both his city and his family.

The series seems to follow a game of cat-and-mouse between Cross and a dangerous criminal.

“He’s not going to stop unless I make him stop,” Cross says.

The eight-episode series also stars Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.

The trailer ends with Cross being asked, “You think you can stop him?”

He replies: “I know I can. ‘Cause I know him better than he knows himself.”

The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television, was created and written by Ben Watkins.

As previously reported, the series was ordered straight to production, with a second season already green lit.

Cross premieres on Prime Video on Nov. 14.
