NAACP Image Awards: Jennifer Hudson Wins Outstanding Host on Night 2

Jennifer Hudson took home the award for Outstanding Host in a Talk or News/Information (Series or Special) for The Jennifer Hudson Show during the second night of the 54th NAACP Image Awards non-televised award categories.

The EGOT winner can now add another award statue to her list of accolades after launching  her namesake talk show last fall.

Hudson beat out nominees that included Kevin Hart for Peacock’s Hart to Heart, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, and Tracee Ellis Ross for Hulu’s Hair Tales.

Social media influencer and actress Tabitha Brown was named Outstanding Host in a Reality/Reality Competition, Game Show or Variety (Series or Special) – Individual or Ensemble for her Youtube Originals preschool show Tab Time.

Lizzo and Amazon Prime Video’s Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls won the award for Outstanding Reality Program/Reality Competition Series.

The night’s other big winners included Trevor Noah for Outstanding Variety or Game Show (Series or Special) – The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Viola Davis for her new memoir, which won Outstanding Literary Work – Non-Fiction for “Finding Me.”

The week-long virtual awards run from February 20-23, honoring outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across more than 80 competitive categories.

Night two presenters included Terrence Terrell, Hailie Sahar and Jotaka Eaddy.

Earlier in the day, BET and the NAACP announced Grammy Award-winning rapper and actress Queen Latifah will host the televised awards show.

The 54th NAACP Image Awards will air live on Saturday, February 25 at 8:00 PM ET/ 5:00 PM PT on BET.

The live show will also simulcast across Paramount Global networks including BET HER, CBS, CMT, Comedy Central, LOGO, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, POP TV, Smithsonian, TV Land, and VH1.

The awards ceremony will include a live audience for the first time in three years, taking place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif.
