NAACP Image Awards: Beyoncé Is Big Winner in Music Categories

Beyoncé dominated the competition Thursday on night four of the 52nd NAACP Image Awards.

With the winners announced in the music categories, Beyoncé picked up four awards including outstanding female artist for “Black Parade,” outstanding hip hop/rap song for “Savage Remix” with Megan Thee Stallion, outstanding duo group or collaboration – contemporary for “Savage Remix,” and she shared the outstanding music video/visual album award for “Brown Skin Girl” with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, WizKid and SAINt JHN.

Other winners at Thursday’s streaming Image Awards included Drake who was named outstanding male artist for “Laugh Now, Cry Later.” Jhené Aiko picked up the outstanding album honor for “Chilombo,” and The Clark Sisters won outstanding gospel/Christian album for “The Return.”

In the special categories, the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) was honored with the Jackie Robinson Sports Award, presented by Jemele Hill and accepted by WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike.

The night additionally featured performances by Baba Luther, drummers and dancers who showcased the history of dance from African dance in New Orleans’ Congo Square to Second Line dance to Bounce dance.

The non-televised awards categories were announced virtually each night this week at naacpimageawards.net, leading up to the televised show on Saturday, March 27 at 8/7c on BET, with a simulcast airing across ViacomCBS Networks including CBS, BET Her, VH1, MTV, MTV2, and LOGO.
