Shannon Sharpe posted his highly-anticipated interview with Mo’Nique on YouTube Wednesday and it was worth the wait.

The Precious star revealed last week on Instagram that she’d stopped by Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast. We now know Mo’Nique did not. hold. back.

The Oscar-winning actress and outspoken comedian rehashed her feud with Precious producers Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, and the film’s director Lee Daniels — which started when Mo’Nique refused to participate in some award season events promoting the 2009 film — unless she received additional compensation.

What we didn’t know was the lengths that Mo’Nique alleges the Hollywood heavyweights went to, to allegedly sideline her career.

While she noted that Daniels publicly apologized in 2022, she said Winfrey has continued to be “unjust” and “unfair.”

“When I speak about Oprah Winfrey, I speak about that woman because she has spoken about me, and when you begin to speak about me privately, I’m going to speak about you publicly,” Mo’Nique said. “You’ve been unfair. You’ve been unjust and you watched a Black woman be thrown under the bus and you said nothing.”

Mo’Nique said Winfrey invited members of the comedian’s estranged family on her talk show in 2010, even though she knew Mo’Nique no longer had a relationship with her relatives.

“You betrayed me sister,” Mo’Nique said. “Family is sacred, and we don’t cross the line with family.”

According to Mo’Nique, the betrayal didn’t stop there. She accused Winfrey of using her power and influence to steal roles initially offered to Mo’Nique.

“The movie The Butler, that role [of Gloria Gaines] was offered to me,” Mo’Nique said.

The comedian added that Lee Daniels, who directed the award-winning film, recently admitted that he offered her a part in the drama, but later rescinded the offer.

“He said to me, ‘Mo’Nique, at the time I had no power and no money,'” Mo’Nique claimed she was told. “So when Oprah said she wanted it, who played the lead role? Oprah Winfrey.”

She also claimed Daniels offered her a role as “the grandmother” in a Richard Pryor biopic that Daniels was developing.

“Who then calls Lee Daniels and says, ‘I want to be the grandmother,'” Mo’Nique claimed, saying Winfrey wanted the part for herself.

Sharpe played devil’s advocate and suggested that maybe Daniels planned to cast Winfrey all along, but Mo’Nique said that’s not what happened.

“I doesn’t work like that. Once you say, ‘I want you,’ that’s what it is. But I don’t have the money to fund a production. I don’t have the connections to go to the studio and say, ‘I want to do this movie.’ She does,” Mo’Nique told Sharpe about Winfrey.

As for Tyler Perry, Mo’Nique claimed she has an audio recording of the movie mogul admitting he told other Hollywood insiders to avoid Mo’Nique because she’s difficult to work with.

“Had I not recorded Tyler Perry, it would have been my word against his. Then on top of that, it would have been like, ‘he’s so powerful we can’t even pay attention to that,'” Mo’Nique said.

Perry has long denied bad-mouthing Mo’Nique, but she claimed the recording confirms he’s a “liar” because he allegedly admitted on the recording that he “mistreated” her.

“That cost my family tens of millions of dollars over a lie and a rumor,” Mo’Nique said.

Sharpe said he’d listened to the recording, but he refused to confirm what was on it. Instead, he invited Perry to come on “Club Shay Shay” to hash things out with Mo’Nique.

The Parkers star also tore into Kevin Hart, and said Katt Williams told no lies when he called Hart a “gatekeeper” during his interview on “Club Shay Shay” a month earlier.

Mo’Nique first praised Hart for writing her a check when she fell on hard times, and said she eventually paid him back “with some interest on top.”

But the compliments ended there. Mo’Nique said while she was struggling, she went on Hart’s podcast and afterwards he promised to help get her career back on track by opening doors in Hollywood.

“He said, ‘Whatever y’all want to do, I will partner with you, I’ll executive produce with you, just let me know what you want to do,'” Mo’Nique insisted Hart told her.

She said she immediately told her business associates, and they were thrilled because Hart’s name carries a lot of clout in Hollywood.

Two weeks later, she said her team got a call from Hart’s manager.

“He said, ‘Kevin Hart doesn’t want anything to do with Mo’Nique, so whatever she told y’all, he doesn’t want any kind of relationship with Mo’Nique,'” she claimed Hart’s manager said.

Mo’Nique added that she then called Hart to find out what was going on.

‘[Hart] said ‘Mo, that’s a miscommunication, we’re going to talk Tuesday. Don’t wont worry about it,'” she said.

“That was two years ago,” Mo’Nique told Sharpe, adding that she hasn’t heard from Hart since then.

She also had choice words for Steve Harvey and Tiffany Haddish.

  1. Sounds like classic liberal mentality. “We have to support each other” until they get into positions of power. Eat the rich, until they are the rich.

  2. Mo’Nique is trash, desperately trying to hold on to relevancy.

Notice how she’s had so many problems with so many people? This has been going on for 15+ years now.

I personally know two separate management groups who worked with her and are relieved to no longer do so. That’s surprisingly rare in that business.

    Good riddance.
