Trevante Rhodes shines as Mike Tyson in the latest trailer for Hulu’s eight-part limited series, Mike.

Rhodes, who rose to prominence in the 2016 film Moonlight, looks and sounds eerily similar to Tyson in the extended trailer.

“They call me a savage. I’m the most ruthless champion there’s ever been,” the actor says in the video.

The cast also includes Russell Hornsby as promoter Don King, with Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Li Eubanks, Olunike Adeliyi, and B.J. Minor.

The unauthorized series is created by Steven Rogers and the team behind the Oscar-winning 2017 Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya.

Karin Gist serves as showrunner and executive producer along with Claire Brown. Additional executive producers include Craig Gillespie, Scott Morgan, Tom Ackerley, Margot Robbie, Darin Friedman, Anthony Hemingway, Anthony Sparks, Samantha Corbin-Miller and Rhodes.

Tyson previously expressed anger about not being consulted for the series, which was initially titled Iron Mike. In an Instagram post in February 2021, the boxing legend accused Hulu of “cultural misappropriation.” Although he later deleted the post.

Per Hulu, “The eight-episode limited series explores the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again. Focusing the lens on Mike Tyson, the series examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike’s story.”

Mike premieres Aug. 25 with two episodes on Hulu, followed by new episodes streaming weekly.
