Tucker Carlson Makes Offensive Comments About Michelle Obama

Remember when Will Smith told Chris Rock: “Keep my wife’s name out your f–king mouth.” We wish former President Barack Obama would say the same thing to Tucker Carlson.

The former Fox News host recently made several offensive comments about former first lady Michelle Obama, including comparing her life to a “freak show.”

The right-wing media personality made the comments during a segment on Megyn Kelly’s podcast posted to YouTube on April 29. Carlson’s remarks came in response to an interview Obama and her brother Craig Robinson did on the “Jay Shetty Podcast” about politics, immigration, and race.

Shetty asked the siblings about their personal experiences with racial bias.

The two shared stories about growing up in Chicago, and Obama expressed concerns about what’s happening right now, as the Trump administration targets immigrants for deportation.

“The current climate for me is what’s happening to immigrants. It’s not the fear for myself anymore, I drive around in a four-car motorcade with a police escort. I’m Michelle Obama,” she said.

“I do still worry about my daughters in the world,” the former first lady said, adding that she worries the Trump administration is “indiscriminately determining who belongs” in the U.S.

“Knowing that there’s so much bias, so much racism and so much ignorance that fuels those kinds of choices… that frightens me, it keeps me up at night,” she explained.

Megyn Kelly replayed Mrs. Obama’s comments on her podcast and asked Carlson his thoughts.

“It feels so antique. It feels so 2017. It’s like, literally nobody cares,” Carlson said. The Daily Caller co-founder then accused Obama of spreading liberal rhetoric.

“All of those talking points, ‘people of color are under attack.’ No, they’re not. They’re coming here by the millions because this is the safest country for everybody,” he claimed.

Carlson called the Becoming author “old-fashioned,” and said the Princeton and Harvard graduate has a bad attitude because she’s too “privileged.”

“The unhappiest people are also the most privileged,” he said. “She’s dying of affluence, privilege and self-obsession, obviously,” he insisted.

Later, he said Obama should focus on her marriage instead of politics, and fixed his mouth to say: “She’s like a freak show.”

Kelly then chimed in with: “Everything she says is negative. We’ve been watching clips from her podcast over the past couple of weeks.”

“You would never know you are hearing from a woman who was first lady for eight years, had become, probably a billionaire by this point,” she continued. “You would think that you were listening to someone that was like the wife of a George Floyd.”

HuffPost interviewed Deepak Sarma, distinguished scholar of public humanities at Case Western Reserve University, about Kelly and Carlson’s comments.

Sarma called the outspoken pair’s remarks “textbook gaslighting.”
