‘Mea Culpa’ Trailer: Kelly Rowland Risks Her Life and Career in the Netflix Thriller (Video)

Kelly Rowland gets a dire warning in the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Tyler Perry thriller, Mea Culpa.

The streamer released the video on Wednesday.

It shows Rowland (American Soul, The Curse of Bridge Hollow) as criminal defense lawyer Mea Harper, who decides to represent a seductive artist accused of killing his girlfriend.

Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight, Mike) plays artist Zyair Malloy.

“What the prosecution has is pretty damning. I know you have an eye for detail, so don’t leave anything out,” Mea tells her client.

As evidence of a sadistic crime piles up, Zyair insists he’s innocent. “This is my life and they’re trying to ruin me,” he tells Mea.

The attorney is warned to keep her distance because Zyair may be a “psychopath,” yet desire takes hold and things get dangerous.

The cast also includes RonReaco Lee, Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, and Shannon Thornton.

Tyler Perry wrote and directed the film, as well as co-produced it with Rowland, Dianne Ashford, Will Areu, and Angi Bones.

Perry’s previous films with Netflix include the period drama A Jazzman’s Blues, A Madea Homecoming, and the thriller A Fall from Grace.

Mea Culpa premieres Feb. 23 on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
