Coming down the aisle in the new year is season 12 of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight, which will be set in Atlanta.

The reality relationship series will follow ten singles who take the risk of marrying a complete stranger all in the search for love.

This is the second time the series is filming in Atlanta, after previously shooting in the city for season three.

In a press release, Lifetime says the new season will be “the most romantic, diverse, and surprising season yet as ten brave-but-loveless singles meet their new spouse at the altar and enter a legally binding marriage at first sight. With one groom pushing forty and another who has been divorced (both MAFS firsts), new insights are brought to a journey that is always full of high-stakes.”

Each season, three experts use scientific matchmaking methods to pair eager singles with their respective bride/groom. The experts are Pastor Cal Robertson, relationship expert Dr. Viviana Coles and sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz.

In an exclusive first look at season 12, People magazine profiled the five couples which include accountant Paige and entrepreneur/finance manager Chris; engineer Briana and auto broker Vincent [shown above]; account executive Haley and senior IT analyst Jacob; divorced pilot Erik and account coordinator Virginia; and project manager Ryan and flight attendant Clara.

For the second year in a row, the new season will start with a MAFS: Matchmaking Special that’s set to air on Wednesday, Dec. 30, showing how the five couples were selected.

The three-hour premiere of Married at First Sight will air Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 8PM ET/PT. Subsequent two-hour episodes will continue to air every week following the premiere.

The series is produced by Kinetic Content. Executive producers are Chris Coelen, Eric Detwiler, Ally Simpson, Montre Burton and Toni Gallagher from Kinetic Content and Gena McCarthy from Lifetime.
