The acclaimed Luther Vandross documentary Luther: Never Too Much is headed to OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
The film is set to premiere on the cable network Feb. 7, with Oprah Winfrey providing a special introduction.
In the intro, the media mogul will reflect on Vandross’ legacy and impact.
“Celebrating the extraordinary talent and life of Luther Vandross, this documentary highlights an innovative trailblazer whose story exemplifies the powerful, inspiring narratives that OWN is dedicated to bringing to the forefront,” OWN President Tina Perry said in a statement.
As per the film’s official description, Luther: Never Too Much chronicles the story of the music icon’s “formative years in Harlem and the first episodes of Sesame Street, through his ascendance to becoming the indisputable master of the love song.”

The doc, which first aired Jan. 1 on CNN, features “rarely seen archives” of the Grammy award-winning artist and the voices of his closest friends and musical collaborators, including Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson, and Roberta Flack.
The film not only explores Vandross’ music career, but his personal life too. Vandross struggled with weight and health issues and died at age 54 in 2005, two years after suffering a debilitating stroke.
Luther: Never Too Much is nominated for Outstanding Documentary and Outstanding Directing in a Documentary at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. The awards will be held on Feb. 22.
The film was directed and executive produced by Dawn Porter. Porter is also known for the political documentaries John Lewis: Good Trouble and Power of the Dream.
Luther: Never Too Much airs on OWN Feb. 7 at 9 pm ET/PT.
