Lionel Richie has postponed two concerts after falling ill onstage earlier this week in St. Paul, Minnesota during his joint tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

The four-time Grammy winner was performing at the Grand Casino Arena on Wednesday, when he said he felt “dizzy,” sat down on stage, and was transported to a hospital.

In a statement released Thursday evening, June 25, Live Nation Chicago said Richie is “heartbroken,” but would have to postpone two upcoming shows.

“Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows on Friday, June 26 in Chicago, IL and Saturday, June 27 in Columbus, OH,” the statement read.

“He and Earth, Wind & Fire will return to the stage on Tuesday, June 30 in Pittsburgh, PA. Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans,” Live Nation added.

The postponed concerts will be rescheduled with the dates to be announced soon.

Viral videos posted on social media by fans Wednesday showed Richie singing “Dancing on the Ceiling” when he sat down on stage to make it through the song.

“What I have learned about my years of being in the business, when you are feeling dizzy, sit your ass down. And when you are feeling strange about yourself, sit your ass down!” the music legend told the audience.

The American Idol judge eventually left the stage and cut the concert short. Paramedics responded to the scene and he was transported to an area hospital.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the Sing A Song All Night Long 2026 Tour, which is produced by Live Nation.

After kicking off in St. Paul on June 24, the 26-city tour will travel across North America with stops in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, Boston, Atlanta, Phoenix, and other cities.
