Another Love Island USA season 8 contestant has been shown the door over resurfaced racist comments.
Alannah Keyser was introduced to the audience on the Sunday, June 21 episode as one of the new bombshells.
It didn’t take long for social media users to begin sharing a video and social media posts that purportedly showed her using the N-word.
In a now-viral video on X, a young woman resembling Keyser was at a party singing along to rapper Roddy Ricch’s 2019 song “The Box,” which includes the slur.
The party was full of people and several were recorded looking into a camera while singing the song.
Another post showed comments from what appeared to be a private exchange where a woman named Alannah complained that a “ni—r literally tried to flirt with me.”
Some of the posts containing the resurfaced video tagged Love Island USA and the University of Southern California where Keyser is studying filmmaking.
On June 25, Peacock confirmed to People that she has been removed from the competition following her introduction on episode 17. After episode 20, she will no longer appear on the show.
Keyser, 21, is originally from Miami, according to her bio on the show’s cast page. She is the second contestant to be removed from the current season of Love Island USA for using the N-Word.
Just days before the season premiered on June 2, Vasana Montgomery was kicked off the show when resurfaced videos were posted to social media showing her using the slur.
Montgomery later issued a statement on Instagram apologizing for her past comments.
“I want to address a couple of videos from my teen years that have recently resurfaced,” she began.
“In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry. I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people,” the statement continued.
Montgomery, 25, added that she has “grown a lot” since then.
Last year, two Islanders were removed from the show on season 7. Yulissa Escobar was kicked off the competition at the beginning of the season when clips of her using the N-word resurfaced online.
Weeks later, Cierra Ortega was removed from the series following backlash for a resurfaced social media post that showed her using a racial slur about Asian people. She later issued an apology saying she was unaware that her comments were racially offensive.
