Just days after reports surfaced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to return to the U.K., the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly in talks for a new acting role.
Australia’s News.com.au was among the first outlets to report Markle has been “offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K.”
Hours later, Variety published an article saying the former Suits star is in early talks to join the third season of Netflix’s acclaimed drama series, The Gentlemen. Representatives for Markle and Netflix declined to comment.
The series from British filmmaker Guy Ritchie stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman, a soldier and aristocrat who inherits his family’s estate, only to discover a massive cannabis business is operating beneath the property. Eddie’s family signed off on the underground operation because they needed the cash, now he can’t get out of the deal.

The Gentlemen premiered in 2024 and quickly became a hit. Season 2 is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in September.
The cast includes Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, and Giancarlo Esposito.
The series has not officially been renewed for a third season, and details about Markle’s potential role are being kept under wraps.
A Southern California native, she starred as paralegal Rachel Zane on the legal drama Suits for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. Markle left the series ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
News of her potential role in The Gentlemen follows the shocking announcement on Wednesday, Aug. 19, that Meghan and Harry plan to return to the U.K. with their two children for an “extended period,” after six years in the U.S.
People reported “King Charles was made aware of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans to relocate their family back to the U.K. on Sunday.” The outlet said the couple’s children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are set to attend school in the U.K.
After stepping back as senior working members of the royal family in 2020, Harry and Meghan briefly lived in Canada, before moving to California.
The couple currently lives in a secluded compound in the wealthy enclave of Montecito, about 90 minutes outside of Los Angeles. They reportedly plan to keep the property while spending an extended period in Britain.
Harry and Meghan signed a massive production deal with Netflix after moving to the U.S. The duchess hosted the cooking and lifestyle series With Love, Meghan for two seasons. So far, there’s been no word if the show will return for a third season.
