The Detroit-bred group came from humble beginnings and endured abuse, loss, rejection, betrayal, and sibling rivalries on the road to success in the music industry. The original Lifetime film will feature recordings of The Clark Sisters’ music.
At the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday in Pasadena, Calif., producers were asked if estranged sister Denise Clark-Bradford was consulted in the making of the movie.
“Yes, she was absolutely given the opportunity to participate in her story,” said executive producer Holly Carter. Although Carter didn’t say if Clark-Bradford actually participated in the film.
Along with Carter, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, and Loretha Jones serve as executive produces. Carter is an EP for Revele Entertainment and Shakim Compere executive produces for Flavor Unit. Christine Swanson is the director for the film written by Sylvia L. Jones and Camille Tucker.
The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel premieres on Saturday, April 11 at 8/7c.
