Lee Daniels is working on his next big screen project — a horror film starring Andra Day, Glenn Close and Octavia Spencer.

Daniels is set to produce, direct and write the untitled film based off of a true story. Netflix bought the rights for the film for $65 million, Variety reported Monday. The streamer beat out other studios, including MGM and Miramax in a bidding war for the upcoming project.

Day has been cast as a mother in Indiana whose child has become demonically possessed. The film will also star Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things) and King Richard’s Aunjanue Ellis.

Daniels is producing the project through his Lee Daniels Entertainment company alongside Pam Williams and Tucker Tooley. The Empire co-creator is writing the script alongside David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum. The film is expected to start production later this year.

The thriller will reunite Daniels with Day following their collaboration on The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Under his direction, Day earned an Oscar nomination and took home a Golden Globe for her role as the music legend. It was her first feature film role.

Daniels’ other credits include Shadowboxer, Precious, The Butler, Concrete Cowboy, the new drama series Our Kind of People.
