The second season release of L.A.’s Finest, starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, has been pushed back after George Floyd’s death and the nationwide protests that followed.
The police drama’s sophomore season was set to launch June 8 on Spectrum. Given the unrest surrounding police brutality in America, the cabler opted to postpone the show’s return until an unspecified date in 2020, according to Variety.
The series is a spinoff of the Bad Boys film franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. In the Spectrum Originals show, Union revives her character of Syd Burnett, who was last seen in Bad Boys II.

Due to the nature of L.A.’s Finest, which tends to portray police in the usual heroic manner that a majority of TV series follow, Spectrum has opted to hold off bringing the show back, amid the growing Black Lives Matter movement demanding an end to police brutality.
News of the scrapped season 2 premiere comes on the heels of the Fox network acquiring the broadcast rights from Spectrum of both seasons of the show. After the coronavirus pandemic halted production, Fox turned to Spectrum and plans to run the 13-episode first season of L.A.’s Finest on Mondays this fall.
