Kim Porter’s father says he was sickened when he watched the surveillance video of Sean “Diddy” Combs attacking ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.
Jake Porter, 78, spoke with Rolling Stone by phone about the video and his late daughter’s relationship with the music mogul, for an article published on June 7.
After watching the footage of Diddy, 54, kicking and dragging Cassie at a hotel in 2016, the Vietnam veteran said he was disturbed by what he saw.
“You can say I was disgusted with the video, and I wouldn’t treat my enemy like that,” Porter told the outlet.
“It was despicable,” he added. “I couldn’t believe it. I was in Vietnam, and I wouldn’t do that to my enemy.”

Porter said he never witnessed Diddy abuse his daughter “to that extent, but it made me wonder.”
Kim and Diddy met while working together at Uptown Records and began dating in the 1990s.
Her father told the magazine he lived with or near Kim for much of her relationship with the producer and rapper. After seeing the video, Porter told Rolling Stone he has a “different outlook” on the Bad Boy Records founder.
“I didn’t know he could stoop that low,” he said. “I imagine it surprised a lot of people. I wouldn’t even do a dog like that. My heart goes out to Cassie.”
Jake Porter said his daughter had a powerful connection with Diddy, but she “just couldn’t live with him” in the same house.
“They both loved each other. Kim’s love was legitimate. Puffy’s love, I don’t know what he calls love, you know what I mean? I really don’t think he has any idea what love is,” he shared, adding, “I think he was a very jealous person.”

Kim Porter died in November 2018 from lobar pneumonia. She had three children with Diddy — they welcomed son Christian in 1998, and their twin daughters Jessie and D’Lila were born in 2006.
Rolling Stone said Jake Porter declined to answer some of the outlet’s questions, but he did say moving forward, “My concern is the children.”
CNN aired the leaked hotel surveillance video on May 17. Two days later, Diddy issued an apology on Instagram, saying the hotel video was recorded at one of the “darkest times” of his life.
“I was fu–ed up. I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable,” he said.
Since November 2023, Diddy has been named in at least eight civil suits, with seven of them accusing him of sexual assault.
He settled the the first lawsuit, which was from Cassie, one day after it was filed. Although one of his legal reps said the settlement was in “no way an admission of wrongdoing.”
The other lawsuits are still pending.
The mogul is also the subject of a federal investigation into sex trafficking allegations, and had his homes in Los Angeles and Miami raided on March 25.
Diddy has maintained his innocence and his attorney called the raids a “witch hunt.”
